Pennygate surgery GP contract to move Johnson Hospital
South Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group has announced the award of an Alternative Provider Medical Services (APMS) contract, to initially be based at Johnson Community Hospital, Spalding, to Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS).
This follows a series of drop-in and consultation events run by the CCG towards the end of 2018 to look at the provision of primary care/GP services in Spalding, which provided the opportunity for local people to share their views and concerns. With effect from 1 October 2019, the new APMS contract will replace the current interim arrangements provided by LCHS at Johnson Community Hospital, Spalding, which have been in place since 8 September 2018, and will provide primary care/GP services. This contract will commence on 1st October 2019 for three years, with an opportunity to extend for a further four years.
An important part of the new APMS contract is the option to move to an alternative site on the west of Spalding, as and when such a site becomes available, allowing the flexibility to react to factors such as housing developments.
Patients already registered at the Johnson GP Centre do not need to do anything, they will continue to access primary care/GP services there in the same was from 1st October.
One thing that may change from the 1 October is the name of the practice, although this is still to be decided. We are writing to patients to inform them of the new contract and to ask them on their thoughts as to a new name.
