National Disability Strategy
The Government have set out steps to improve all aspects of a disabled person's life as part of the new National Disability Strategy. It highlights the DHSCs commitments to improve health and social care outcomes and bring forward Social Care Reform – www.gov.uk/government/publications/national-disability-strategy
The main points from the strategy that LCC will need to take account of when reviewing and developing policies and service delivery:
- Making access to public services as smooth and easy as possible
- Supporting autistic people and people with a learning disability
- Once evaluated, the DHSC looking to make training on autism and learning disability available for all 2.7 million health and adult care staff
- Making the world of work more inclusive and accessible
- Creating more accessible, adapted and safer homes
- Improving disability data and evidence
- Improving the accessibility of online public services
- Tracking progress on improvements
