NHS England and the Ministry of Defence have launched the Armed Forces personnel in transition, Integrated Personal Commissioning for Veterans (IPC4V) Framework.

The NHS Long Term Plan sets out a commitment to support veterans and IPC4V provides a framework for making sure that the small number of Armed Forces personnel, who have complex and enduring health conditions as a result of being injured in Service, receive effective personalised care. It aims to empower individuals as experts in the planning of their care, ensuring personalised care and support arrangements are in place as they transition to civilian life.

A second framework, which is for veterans with ongoing health and social care needs, will be launched in summer 2019.
